My husband and I are a pretty strong couple, but we are also very strong individuals. We have our own interests, and we pretty much let each other do whatever the hell the other wants (within reason). I say within reason because he's extremely adventurous and very much like a big kid without any reasonable fear. He likes to jump off houses into lakes, mountain bike, ski, all of which is fine, he also does all of these things without thinking too much about his safety. He has the courage and fearlessness of a five year old kid. Remember when we used to climb trees and try things that might have us fly into the air and send us crashing down without question? Well, that's him now. And here I am- really into fashion and aesthetics, plants, tea parties, different types of experiences, drinking wine with new shiny shoes while listening to SADE. And while he really enjoys my interests from far away, he often talks about how "extra" I am. Yes, he uses the word "extra" because my friend Cax and I overuse it when we refer to each other.
I'm saying all this to say that he came home the other day, and suddenly realized how many basket-like bags I had lying around the house. He's the type of person who doesn't notice things easily. I can rearrange our entire living room (which I have done about five times now) without seeing a reaction from him until about a week or two later. He came home just before the sunset. My mom was cooking, and I was probably tending to some plant when he acknowledged I had a basket bag on a window-sill, my bag du jour, and another on a bench a few feet away. He looked at me, and without blanking, he said, "Wait a minute. How many of these basket bag things do you have? You know what they call people like you? Basket case! Zuli, come get your mom. She's extra. She's a basket case." I was shook (another word I learned from the internet I've never actually used in real life).
Not only did I find the joke funny. He was right. I have too many basket bags. But do I really? Yes, this is an actual internal monologue I've been having with myself since I've been accused of being a "basket case". I feel like if they all say something different, then I really don't have too many. Because they won't all go with the same lewk. I have a white one. A natural one. A brown one. A multi-color one. One with metallics. They're all weaved differently. And while one basket bag might make a look, another might take away from it. All I'm saying is: LIFE IS SHORT. GET THE BASKET BAG!
So I may or may not have too many basket bags. I will neither confirm or deny. They are definitely a summer staple, and I can already see how they will work into my fall and winter wardrobe. Yes, I plan on wearing some of them with plaid suits and suede boots. DON'T COME FOR ME! Isn't fashion about having fun and expression one's self anyway?
I've worn this particular bag with boyfriend jeans and off the shoulder blouses, shorts and tees, mini dresses as seen here, and I plan on pairing it with so much more. How would you wear this bag if you had one? (LINK TO GIVEAWAY BELOW)
