I’ve always felt like I belong in a different time period. Another decade. Another era. Something… I’m not entirely sure what time period that would be though, and maybe that’s why I love vintage things so much. It was a no-brainer to stop by some vintage shops while I was visiting Austin. I found this little beauty and shrieked at the sight of it. The man at the store thought I was going through an episode, but I reassured him I was only making happy noises. I wasn’t even sure it would fit since I almost never try on clothes at stores, but I purchased the short, checkered, jeweled mini dress without flinching. And of course I made a happy dance when it fit me perfectly when I tried it on at home. It’s very Fran Fine from the Nanny-ish. She was a stylish lady. Loud and obnoxious, but stylish. Why not walk around with big hair, mini skirts and blazers with structured shoulders? Fran Fine knew just what she was doing.
I decided to add a pop of color to the look with a yellow shoulder bag, and a little mystery with my beret. Honestly my braids were just very old so I wore hats and headwraps the last couple of weeks to keep them from looking too crazy. Otherwise, I would’ve worn my hair up in a bun or something. That’s definitely what I’ll do the next time I wear it. Either way, I just love berets! But doesn’t that make sense? If you’ve been following me even for a little bit, you’d know that I have an obsessions with hats and Paris. So when you combine the two, what do you get? A beret…
