You know what I absolutely love? When I’m walking somewhere (perhaps to meet someone), and I come across pretty things or a place that make my heart flutter. Of course when I find these things or that place, I get lost in them. Then, I run late and blame my tardiness on my curiosity and that sudden burst of happiness that random thing or place brought me. That’s exactly what happened when I came across Urban Garden. I was walking very slowly (which is very rare for me) because it was one of those beautiful spring days, and I wanted to absorb everything. I mean EVERYTHING. The smell, the bright colors, the people, and the flowers. I saw it, stopped, and walked in. I just couldn’t help but smile and engage in a conversation with the people who run the garden. I almost forgot about my rendez-vous. They were all so kind, I wanted to spend the whole afternoon with them. Then, I realized, I was running late, and my friend’s calls brought me back to reality.
The garden has been in the family for decades. It recently relocated to 116th and Park, right by where the explosion happened. Although the glasshouse shattered, and there was a bit of chaos all around, the beauty of it was undeniable. I was told that they have different events, including pig roasts in the summer. I can’t wait to go back!
