Unplug the music

If you haven’t seen it on Afropao.com or my last video yet, yes I got braids (again). I’m not sure why I always get it in the spring. I really like this look on me.

What to wear? What to wear on a cold spring day? The weather seduced us two weeks ago, and made us think that spring finally arrived, only to disappoint us with rain, clouds, winds, and 40-50 degree temperatures. It’s one of those times where you really don’t want to keep wearing your winter coat, but you also don’t want to pull out with nice light and colorful spring fabrics yet.

Last Saturday, I was hanging out with my friend Alex before I attended one of the most recent awkward moments in my life, we took these pictures. I wanted to go with very comfortable, and casual look– denim shirt, cotton skirt, knee-high schools and boots. The hat is my boyfriend’s, I love it!

The event I attended last Saturday was a freestyle dance party. My friend was dj-ing all sorts of awesome Hip-hop and old school dance tunes. It was a fun time until when I went to unplug my phone charger from one of the outlets, I accidentally unplugged the music while the dancers were performing. And no, don’t ask me why I was charging my phone at a party to begin with. My phone is never charged, and I wanted to work on that for once. To make a long story short, I grabbed my stuff, running and apologizing to everyone on my way out, saying, “I am so sorry! I will not return, I promise.” I’m still laughing at myself. This is one of those moments where throwing rotten tomatoes at me would be appropriate if any normal person actually carried rotten vegetables with them on a daily basis.

This story brings me to the conclusion that I am definitely the most uncool person I know. I’m alright with that. I’ll live with my crazy energy and love for all things colorful. And sometimes I will make an accidental dramatic exit, I won’t ever be as graceful as I want to be. You will see me excite about a hula-hoop. I will keep wearing my heart-shaped glasses. It’s all part of the fun, and the understanding that you should never take yourself too seriously. LIVE!
