Style post: Red sophistication

June 17, 2013 by findingpaola

I scored this little red number at JB B.O.R.N., a consignment boutique on 125th. It’s an amazing gem in Harlem run by some of the friendliest and most enthusiastic men in the business. They still can’t pronounce my name properly, but I’ve never stepped foot in there and not left with a big smile on my face. I spotted this little red Diane von Furstenberg silk dress, gave it a big smile, and put it down. When Anita saw it,   […]

Style Post: Put some fringe on it!

June 10, 2013 by findingpaola

It’s spring, almost summer now, and the weather is as confused as ever. One day it’s 90 degrees and sunny, and the next, it’s in the mid 50′s and rainy. For those cold, rainy spring days, I still like to throw on a dress, but I layer with a jacket and boots. I usually wear a lot of colors, but this time, I felt an all black look was appropriate with my hair pulled back. I also thought the yellow […]

The Cloisters in the spring

June 6, 2013 by findingpaola

I have a new found love, and ladies and gentlemen, that is Fort Tryon Park in Washington Heights. After five years of living in New York, I finally had the chance to visit The Cloisters, a museum located in Fort Tryon I’ve always wanted to visit. In my opinion, it’s one of the best NYC attractions. The museum was built in the 1930′s as an extension of the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. The construction was assembled of architectural elements from […]

Sunday stroll through the High Line

April 29, 2013 by findingpaola

Spring has sprung, and the High Line is alive! I love strolling through the elevated park during the spring and summer seasons. Beautiful flowers and plants add color and life to what a historical freight rail line. Amazing street performers keep passers-by entertained. Great snack vendors make it convenient for visitors to have refreshments. Art-work is also displayed both on and near the high-line.  The beautiful and luxurious apartment complexes also add to the fun of the park. As I walk […]

Style post: Colorful African Turban

April 16, 2013 by findingpaola

It’s still not warm enough to roam the streets in short dresses without the need of a jacket or tights. I love the new CatherineMarion dress I received from my friend Abby! There are so many ways to wear it, and I can’t wait to pair it with some nice heels for an afternoon out. Since I’m the kind of person who wants to wear everything I get right away, I wore it the same week I got it with […]

Style post: The bright, graphic sweater

April 8, 2013 by findingpaola

My boyfriend took one look at me, and said, “This sweater looks like one of those articles of clothing you refer to as, ‘things only Asian girls can pull off.’” I laughed when he said that because it’s true, and also because it shows that he listens to me when I ramble on and on about things that don’t really matter. I believe and always joke around that Asian girls have the ability to pull-off the craziest of styles. I […]

Ansanm Nou Se Ayiti T-shirts!

April 2, 2013 by findingpaola

Ansanm Nou Se Ayiti means Together We Are Haiti.  It’s a tribute to Haiti. It’s a movement to unite Haitians living abroad and in Haiti because together we are stronger. #AnsanmNouSeAyiti I had the opportunity to shoot the “Ansanm Nou Se Ayiti” tshirts with Haitian musician, Paul Beaubrun of Zing Experience, and Haitian fashion model, Ania Charlot yesterday. Our necklaces are made by Haitian jewelry designer, MVP for the BohiomaniaHaiti line. Photos are by Alejandro Cerdena. It was a great experience. […]

Style post… The long white coat

March 18, 2013 by findingpaola

It’s still winter, and I’m not happy at all. I feel weighed down, and I’m sad. SAD, I tell ya! I need sunshine in my life. I need long, hot days of blazing sun in my face. I need short shorts, sun dresses, low back tops, and light fabrics. I need my colorful lips to contrast with my colorful turbans. I need summer! At least that’s how I felt before I scored this beautiful white coat at Buffalo Exchange this past […]
