Style post: black and white stripes with a pop

February 22, 2013 by findingpaola

I absolutely adore the black and white trend. It’s just so chic, and simple. I think with that trend, it’s easy to wear something cheap and have it come out looking expensive. However, I like it with a bit of pop! That’s just me. I like black and white just fine, but I loveeeeee color! I’ve been seeing a lot of black and white looks from head to toe, and while it’s still appealing, and yes, I do understand it, […]

Style post: My boyfriend’s socks and NYFW

February 11, 2013 by findingpaola

I was meeting my friend Abby from 4aces on Sunday for a brunch blogging event. I opted for the most comfortable outfit that could come to mind considering the sidewalks and street intersection did not call for heel wearing. My wing-tipped shoes are my favorite shoes, and I wear them often. I wear them on my way to work, and I wear them with pretty dresses or anything that pleases me when I just don’t feel like wearing heels. They […]

Amour Creole Magazine Trailblazer Awards

September 12, 2012 by findingpaola

When in doubt, wear red lipstick. Last Sunday, I had the honor of attending the Amour Creole Trailblazer Awards ceremony in Elmont New York. A magazine dedicated to French-speaking Caribbean readers living abroad, specifically Haitians, Amour Creole, was founded by Esther Lafontant. “I love Essence, but I felt I was lacking something. I needed something I could relate to more– culturally speaking. I needed something to express our culture through fashion, beauty, and the arts,” Esther gladly told me when […]

Fashion’s Night Out 2012

September 7, 2012 by findingpaola

After the most amazing time at Lincoln Center for the Arise Show (post coming soon), we stopped by Aissata‘s to refresh, change, drink some champagne, and of course dance around before another fun time out. Fashion’s Night Out- a night to be bold and daring to walk around the crazy streets and shops of NYC did not disappoint. Since our plans changed for the night, it was all impromptu for us, and Aissata styled me with her very own clothes. […]

Contemporary Negro– Free t-shirt giveaway!

August 11, 2012 by findingpaola

No one likes naps as much as I do. I’m not talking about delightful afternoon siestas, I’m referring to the coily/kinky hair I was blessed with. The hair that used to be criticized everyday when I was a child, and teased when I was a teenager. The hair that gets so many people frustrated and leaves so many black women over-sensitive and defensive. The hair that can be one of the most controversial topics on the planet in black culture.  The hair that […]

red hat, red lips

May 9, 2012 by findingpaola

We know it’s spring, but the cold weather has not completely disappeared. Most days are cloudy, rainy, and/or extremely windy. It’s still safe to layer with a blazer and accessorize with different hats that normally wouldn’t be safe for the hot seasons. I’m actually loving it!  Warm enough to show some legs, but cool enough to layer. I wore my favorite hat on Saturday to bring life to my otherwise very bland outfit on my way to a cinco de mayo fiesta. I also decided […]

Gwar! One crazy time.

May 2, 2012 by findingpaola

If you asked me what I did this past weekend… OK, even if you didn’t ask, I would tell you anyway. My boyfriend woke me up at the crack of dawn Saturday with one thing in mind– book sale! From the moment he picked me up the night before, he wouldn’t stop raving about how excited he was about this book fair where you can fill a brown bag with whatever books you find for just five dollars. He actually didn’t get me […]

Paolita Lolita

April 11, 2012 by findingpaola

I purchased this flag shirt for my brother a while ago, and I loved it so much, I bought one for myself. I really don’t mind wearing guys clothes if I like it. I originally bought it to wear with cutoff jeans shorts. I also pictured myself destroying it a bit, but I actually like the fit for now.  This skirt was bought maybe in high school at one of the first flea markets I’ve been to in New York […]
