Brotherly love

March 5, 2012 by findingpaola

Meet my little brother, Alain. I still remember the morning he was born. It was still dark out as I lay in my great grand mother’s room in Haiti, tossing and turning, waiting to see the little human who has been occupying my mother’s swollen belly for so long. I was so nervous! I really had no idea what it was going to be. I still remember the words, “Se yon ti gason. Ou gen yon ti frè.” (It’s a […]

A run in Central Park

January 23, 2012 by findingpaola

Kyle and I went running two Sundays ago. It was the first time I went running outside in the winter. I always thought people were crazy whenever I saw them jogging by in 30 degree weather. The run happened after a big drinking night. I wanted to do something healthy, and Kyle agreed to join. It was a very windy day, but the air was crisp. It was also very sunny, which warmed us up as we kept running. Everything […]

Strawberry Fields, Bethesda Fountain Jump!

November 28, 2011 by findingpaola

It may look like we’re just jumping on a regular lawn surrounded by beautiful fall trees, but nothing could be more wrong my friend. Right behind us, you will notice a large group of people. We were jumping (quietly of course) at Strawberry Fields, a designated Quiet Zone of the park visited by people from all over the world to observe the living memorial of John Lennon. This peaceful section of the park was named after one of The Beatles’ […]

Jump File Columbus Circle (Revisited)

November 21, 2011 by findingpaola

Our fall jumps are mainly in Central Park because we wanted to capture the beautiful fall season NYC has to offer. We decided to include Columbus Circle although we’ve jumped there before because it’s so close to the park, and there are so many cool angles we can jump from! It’s definitely a location, we’ll keep going back to. As you notice, Lauren (my usual jumping partner) is not in these pictures, but Sarita was awesome to jump with! It […]

Under the moonlight

November 17, 2011 by findingpaola

I’ve always wanted to go on a romantic walk in Central Park. I always pictured it would happen in the summer. I pictured us walking past the horses, and loud groups of people. Past statues and fountains. Around the boathouse. I pictured us occasionally sitting down, and me running to climb something I shouldn’t be climbing. I pictured us dancing under the moonlight, and hugging each other. I went on that walk last Monday. It was after dinner on the […]

Paris en couleur et en noir et blanc

October 24, 2011 by findingpaola

If I ever live in Paris, I will make sure to have a picnic with unobstructed view of the Eiffel Tower every day for three consecutive months. I assume this routine would last longer than the time predicted, but no less than three. I will make sure not to bring more than one bottle of wine because our picnics along the Seine last year always turned into arguments. Now that I think about the arguments, they seem very silly to […]
