Fashion’s Night Out 2012

September 7, 2012 by findingpaola

After the most amazing time at Lincoln Center for the Arise Show (post coming soon), we stopped by Aissata‘s to refresh, change, drink some champagne, and of course dance around before another fun time out. Fashion’s Night Out- a night to be bold and daring to walk around the crazy streets and shops of NYC did not disappoint. Since our plans changed for the night, it was all impromptu for us, and Aissata styled me with her very own clothes. […]

Blanc sur Blanc: Le diner en blanc

August 22, 2012 by findingpaola

Tyler and I took one last look before we left my apartment to make sure everything was packed on Monday afternoon. We were dressed up in white from head to toe, eager to attend one of this year’s most exciting events in New York City. Diner en Blanc, an annual formal pop-up picnic that originated in Paris about 24 years ago, made its way to NYC for a second time around. The idea is to dress in all white with your […]

Dress up for work

August 14, 2012 by findingpaola

I keep it simple for work. I tend to stray away from trends and shop classic pieces for my professional life. I do a lot of my work-shopping online on discounted website like ideeli.com. They always have great collections of designers (Calvin Klein, Ellen Tracy, etc) with good quality at my price range. I also visit stores like Loehmann’s and Banana Republic for nice, quality work clothes on a budget. I still get bright, girly colors, but the cut is usually […]

Better Baller Athletics Fundraiser at Chocolat

August 7, 2012 by findingpaola

In efforts to keep my words of saving a section of my blog dedicated to Harlem, last week after work, I took my brand new camera up the block to Chocolat, a restaurant/bar near my apartment to see what I might find. The main thing that lead me to visit Chocolat was the “Happy Hour” sign I read by the entrance just a few days before while walking to a local Ethiopian restaurant with some friends. The sign captured everyone’s attention with its reasonable […]

“Dreamers and Seekers”

July 8, 2012 by findingpaola

“We’re here for the bird watching.” We told the guard at the gate. He looked at us with a suspicious eye, and pointed towards the parking lot. Our car was one of about 9 cars in a lot that can fit hundreds. As we were getting there with our hula hoops, coolers, boom box,  blankets, and other beach stuff, others were leaving. It was about 3:30 in the afternoon, but still very sunny and hot on the beach. It […]

red hat, red lips

May 9, 2012 by findingpaola

We know it’s spring, but the cold weather has not completely disappeared. Most days are cloudy, rainy, and/or extremely windy. It’s still safe to layer with a blazer and accessorize with different hats that normally wouldn’t be safe for the hot seasons. I’m actually loving it!  Warm enough to show some legs, but cool enough to layer. I wore my favorite hat on Saturday to bring life to my otherwise very bland outfit on my way to a cinco de mayo fiesta. I also decided […]

A run in Central Park

January 23, 2012 by findingpaola

Kyle and I went running two Sundays ago. It was the first time I went running outside in the winter. I always thought people were crazy whenever I saw them jogging by in 30 degree weather. The run happened after a big drinking night. I wanted to do something healthy, and Kyle agreed to join. It was a very windy day, but the air was crisp. It was also very sunny, which warmed us up as we kept running. Everything […]

Paola and Sara Take NYC (Ippudo)

January 17, 2012 by findingpaola

When I think of Ippudo, two words come to mind: PORK BUNS! Last Thursday, after ignoring Sara all day when she repeatedly asked me where we would go on our weekly adventure, I dragged her to one of my all time favorite restaurants in New York City. I bragged about the pork buns, and the warm delicious home-made noodles we would be having in dreamy voice as she stared at me with disinterest. Little did she know she was in […]
