Spring is here! Well, not really, but I can smell it, and I can certainly hear it. The birds are singing sweet melodies to my ears, while the cold wind is being the bitch in high school no one really likes. Excuse my language. Really. I just over these layers. I’m ready to run free in shorts, sleeveless blouses, and high heeled sandals. I want to twirl OUTSIDE with my flowy skirts, and I want to do my crazy looking cartwheels in the many beautiful parks in New York City. Until then, I will be wearing bright lips because at least I can do that!
I’m really loving the new Chanel lipstick my fiance’s brother’s wife (ok, let’s just call her my sister) sent me recently. She knows what I like! I decided to do my normal foundation routine, and an easy eye makeup with it. Whenever I wear bright lips, I like to do very minimal eye makeup. I normally just line my eyes, but I wanted to play with shadows so here we go… I always make sure to start with a clean and moisturized face.
Step 1: I’m using Smashbox Photofinish Foundation Primer to make a smooth canvas for my foundation. It also keeps my t-zone area from looking too oily and keeps my face looking fresh for a while.
Step 2: I apply MakeupForever Foundation in N175 all over my face with a foundation brush evenly, then drag the brush down to my neck.
Step 3 and 4: I apply my MAC concealer in nc50 under my eye area, the bridge of my nose, above and below my eyebrows as a highlight. I don’t use it much to conceal blemishes as I don’t break out too often. Then, I use my MAC shadow (Handwritten) with an angle brush to fill in my eyebrows.
Step 5: I use my MAC blush (LoveJoy) right on my cheekbones with a fluffy face brush.
For the eyes, I use four shades in my BH Cosmetics 88 Color Palette Matte Eyeshadow palette.
Step 1: I use a small crease/smudge brush to apply a light brown color to my crease using sweep motions.
Step 2: I choose a light peachy brown color for my lids, and apply that with a large all-over-lid brush.
Step 3: I pick my large crease brush to apply a dark, deep brown to my crease to give it a more countoured look.
Step 4: I brightened my eyes by re-using my large all-over-lid brush and choosing a light shiny gold to apply in my tear-dot area. I finish the eyes with my liquid felt-tip eyeliner and mascara. If you’d like to learn how I did my cat-eye, click HERE for an example. I’m currently really loving Covergirl’s Bombshell mascara. My lashes appear thicker and longer when I use it!On the lips, I apply Chanel’s Rouge Allure lipstick 65 Insolente in small strokes without a liner. I love how shiny and pigmented the bright pink is! And it looks great on brown skin.
