I went to a 4pm dance party at Lavo last Saturday. I decided to wear something easy, fun, and comfy to dance in. Nothing fits the deal more than a good cropped top and high-waisted pants! I decided on soft pink lips since I’ve been stuck on red, burgundy and hot pink lately, and a somewhat bold cat-eye for a little bit of retro pop Pao! The friend who invited me called the event “brunch”, but if someone blind folded me, and took me inside at 4pm, I would’ve easily thought it as 2am. It was dark, glow sticks hung on everyone’s arms, waists, necks, or legs. Girls danced on tables. Couples made out intensely with each other. And yes, there was lots of drinking.
I’m normally not a big fan of Lavo- it’s just another Meat-Packing District like club in Midtown East with pretentious door men that definitely judge you on looks. You know… the whole yadee-yada that comes with the New York City nightlife. I had fun that time though because it wasn’t as crowded as an actual night out. My friend had the last table in the back, tucked away from clumsy drunk girls, and the occasional pushing. I was able to dance in my corner as much as I want without interruption! I also ran into the beautiful Ania there, and it was just a great time. After two hours, I was ready to go home, and it was about 6pm.
I love day dance parties. I should go to those more often. I dance as much as I want. People certainly behave at least like it was late at night, and I get home at a more early enough where I can plan dinner and go to bed at a reasonable time.
