It’s spring time in New York City! Finally, we can frolic with our friends with no worries. Well, no worries of freezing to death is what I mean. We also have the freedom to wear less, yes! Less! Shorts, tanks, sandals, dresses… Should I keep going?
It’s also picnic, rooftop party, and street festival time! A great picnic with many things and people to play with is one of my favorite things to do in New York City. There are many beautiful parks to have a picnic in, and my favorite is Central Park. I also have many great locations within the park, whether I’m looking to have a romantic picnic, or one to people watch, or one to climb trees, I have a location. Recently, my friends and I chose the “Great Lawn” for our activity-filled picnic, and it was a blast. We played frisbee (terribly), hula-hooped (duh!), cart-wheeled, played bridge with our bodies, climbed trees, and laughed (way too much).
Things to have for a great picnic:
1- Great friends who won’t get embarrassed, and who are willing to move around.
2- Fruits, lots of it!
3- Healthy finger foods: carrots, crackers and humus work well.
4- Water! If you’re planning on doing as much as we did, you definitely need water.
5- Toys: Frisbee, football, soccer ball, hula-hoop, playing cards are some of my favorites.
6- Champagne (not always) but you can never go wrong with Champagne. This time we had none. We did have sparkling grapefruit juice though, and it was delicious!
7- Ice cream bars! Make sure you eat them before they melt.
8- Great attitude! You should not go on a picnic if you’re cranky, “ain’t nobody got time for that.”
9- A good blanket. It’s always good to have something to rest on besides prickly grass.
10- A book? Nah! You’re outside, have fun. Roll around on the grass, sniff your underarms, make funny noises, and scream that you love life!
I hope this picnic tutorial helped. Let me know how it works out. Now what our video!
