my studio apartment now, before, then

When I first came to New York, I was looking for a place to crash, now I have a place to live. I realize there’s much more to being a New Yorker than hopping from place to place then coming home at an unreasonable time to rest for just a few hours and to start all over again the next day. I like to entertain even with my small place, so I like it to be both open and cozy.

The book divider I purchased from Ikea really helps me out in separating the living room to my “bedroom” in my studio apartment. It inspired me to find a better way to arrange my furniture and other belongings. I started my apartment with just a bed and a couch. I had some side tables I hated that came with the bed I purchased from someone, but that was it. I’m now loving the transition.

I love buying things that I know will compliment my apartment. TJMaxx and HomeGoods are my two best friends! There’s no real theme. There is a lot of brown, but it was unintentional. I just wanted an easy- to- clean couch that wouldn’t look stained if I spilled something on it. I didn’t know if I wanted a really minimalist or artistic look. I think it’s somewhere in the middle. I am really trying to avoid clutter, but I also want to feel comfortable and at home.

The new layout looks great! By switching the place of the long couch (which I remember sitting on! lol) and bringing in the divider, you have definitely defined your spaces. I also love the Prestige beer bottle on it’s own little shelf! Lol.

I had so much fun drinking that beer. Thanks for bringing it to me! <3

  2. […] I’m also known to rearrange my living space quite often. I think that’s because I am a creative person whether I can express that creativity or not. And for that, I’m constantly bored of the way my things are exhibited, so I shift things around. For example, my couch has already been moved three times. Some mirrors are constantly being switched from their locations, and I just always get a new idea of what to do with my things when I’m in the shower. My boyfriend laughs at me sometimes because I think of a thing, and I get really excited as if it’s going to change my life. Then I try to get it done right away. And my recent project lately has been to “romanticize” my studio apartment. If you don’t what it looked like before, click here. […]
