Live music, fun drinks, and good dancing

09-winter 2012-003

Friday night sure is fun at Toshi’s Living Room. A live band entertains guests who are sipping fun cocktails as passersby peek in to see where all the fun is coming from. Paul Beaubrun of Zing Experience (son of the founders of Boukman Eksperyans) also spins there. I went to meet Soukena, my new Haitian partner in crime there to celebrate the birthday of a friend. It was Anastasia’s birthday, and it was obvious! For the evening, she wore a beautiful backless glittery dress. The dance floor was never empty because it was her night, and she was enjoying it.

My drink for the evening was  “Rouge Hot Bitch”. I’m not sure who named it that, but it intrigued me. It had hot sauce in it and some sort of citrus. I love spicy and citrus-y drinks so I knew it would be mine. The bar is split into two floors, where a very long and large fish tank stands right inside of the spiraling staircase that brings you to each floor. The stage is on the first floor, but our table was overlooking the show on the mezzanine level. TVs are also conveniently placed in the back in case you’re unable to see the show from your table. I hung out mostly upstairs watching the party girl rip the dance floor and stage. The singer of the band was also very charismatic and talented. As he sang he would walk to the tables closes to the stage to sing to the ladies, or he would just grab one to spin as he is hitting a high note. It was all an entertaining and fun night.

Happy birthday, Anastasia!

Omg i love this place with a passion, hubby and I went on a date there a couple of times and we loved it especially the Standard Hotel. I love these two with a passion. loll. Girl let me just say I love you with a passion. My first time ever i found someone who shares the same interest as me when it comes to fun and NYC. My husband is crazy in love with the big city which is the reason why he works there, hang out there, do everything in the city but sleeping. He actually wants to move our family out there but as much as i love the big city i am not a city girl when it comes to living. I rather live outside of the city but close enough to get to it. I currently live 30 minutes drive from the city i have been here since 2004 since after i left Florida but I am willing to give the city a try out even though its expensive but we will see. Hopefully i get to be your neighbor (I’ll go crazy because i like you to much) Anyhow, I cannot wait to me you in person miss Paola. Let me know what you up too on Christmas day because i will be out there hanging out with my kids and Hubby. Central Park will be our first stop because i will be taking there pictures there. Enjoy the night…later!

It was my first time at Toshi’s, and I had a great time. I love the combination of live music and DJ. I’m sure you’re going to have a great time with your family in Central Park. It’s so beautiful! You should go look at the tree at Rockefeller too if you’re in the mood. I’m pretty sure we will run into each other soon. Some events are in the works for next year, and I will keep you posted. Happy holidays!
