Friday night sure is fun at Toshi’s Living Room. A live band entertains guests who are sipping fun cocktails as passersby peek in to see where all the fun is coming from. Paul Beaubrun of Zing Experience (son of the founders of Boukman Eksperyans) also spins there. I went to meet Soukena, my new Haitian partner in crime there to celebrate the birthday of a friend. It was Anastasia’s birthday, and it was obvious! For the evening, she wore a beautiful backless glittery dress. The dance floor was never empty because it was her night, and she was enjoying it.
My drink for the evening was “Rouge Hot Bitch”. I’m not sure who named it that, but it intrigued me. It had hot sauce in it and some sort of citrus. I love spicy and citrus-y drinks so I knew it would be mine. The bar is split into two floors, where a very long and large fish tank stands right inside of the spiraling staircase that brings you to each floor. The stage is on the first floor, but our table was overlooking the show on the mezzanine level. TVs are also conveniently placed in the back in case you’re unable to see the show from your table. I hung out mostly upstairs watching the party girl rip the dance floor and stage. The singer of the band was also very charismatic and talented. As he sang he would walk to the tables closes to the stage to sing to the ladies, or he would just grab one to spin as he is hitting a high note. It was all an entertaining and fun night.
Happy birthday, Anastasia!
