Last Saturday was definitely not a lazy day. Natalia and I ran around from Harlem to Brooklyn as we shot our third episode of the Finding Paola Web Series, hula hooped to Haitian music on my roof with Soukena, and made time to join some friends at the Festival of Colors all the way, deep down in Brooklyn. These past few months have been very busy for me as I’ve been working very hard on my personal projects while still trying to maintain a social life. It definitely felt good to kick back and get colorful and dirty!
The weather could’ve been nicer. By the time we made it to the festival, we were all freezing. We had to keep jumping, dancing, and hula hooping (of course) to stay warm. Had the weather been 10 degrees warmer, the festival would’ve been not just great, but AMAZING!
I went with a good group of people who knew how to have fun even when the music got “interesting”. I felt like at one point, some of the bands spent so much time doing drugs backstage, they had no idea what they were doing when it was time for them to perform. Other than that, it was all great vibes, fun people, and a colorful messy time! It was great to see my old roommate and other few friends I don’t really get to see much often.
The Festival of Colors is just another one of the events my friends know I’d always make time for. It’s seriously pure, without-having-to-try-too-hard FUN!
Not tired of my crazy photos? Check out some silly hula-hooping on the roof, and yes, I’m including myself because I’m so rusty! I’m dedicating myself to learning 3 new tricks every month of the summer, starting now.
