Health post: 7 days of green smoothies later

1-DSC_1236 3-winter 20124-001 8-DSC_1225 1 9-winter 20124

This past week alone, I know I consumed 7 cups of kale, 6 cups of spinach, six apples, 4 grapefruits, one bunch of parsley, 6 tbsp of Chia seeds, 4 tbsp of Hempseeds, 3 tbsp. of flaxseed, 10 bananas, and lots and lots of berries! In terms of greens, I’m not counting different salads and other dishes I’ve had, isn’t that fantastic? I love a good salad. I’d like to say that I’m now in love with green smoothies. I drink one for breakfast, and the other for an afternoon snack during the week. I still eat a regular lunch, just smaller portions because the smoothie is very filling. I eat dinner where I’m trying to include more whole grains, complex carbs, and protein since I’ve started to workout as well. I’ve got a nice list of goals for health and fitness this year! I’ve also been drinking a lot of water. I think once you start one healthy habit, others follow.

I’ve been carrying raw almonds with me and munch some at my desk. I don’t think I’m a big fan at adding nutbutters in my smoothies although I haven’t even tried. It just sounds like something I wouldn’t really like. Maybe one day I’ll actually try.

I can already see a difference in my complexion. I look less tired, and yes, I’ve got more energy. More energy for Pao! I also go grocery shopping more often since I want fresh organic greens, and I’m loving the little trips to the grocery store. It’s almost like a form of meditation when I browse the aisles looking for greens on special, and what kinds of frozen fruits are in stock at whole Foods.

I decided to do something fun, and name some of my favorite smoothies after some friends! It makes it a little fun (or creepy), and I get to remember exactly what went in the smoothies! Obviously, the pictures help to remember things too. ;)

So, without further ado, I present to you my beautiful and delicious friends. Stay tuned for more…

Thanks, Scott! I love the hair too. It’s almost time to get rid of it. But I’ve already found another cool “protective” style for afro to wear next! Not that you know what any of that means. Hahaha

All these smoothies look and sound great! I also started adding spinach to our smoothies, the boyfriend couldn’t get used to it – maybe if it was not green?? :D

Good for you, Pao! What an awesome commitment to your health (and a tasty one at that). I have to say, I don’t know if I can imagine you actually being MORE energetic. ;-) And I love your green mustache!
