Last week, I had to pleasure of meeting the delightful Jany Tomba, the first Haitian early generation black supermodel. I interviewed her for Amour Creole Magazine, and I was so excited to listen to her story. I will be sure to announce when the article is published so you can check it out.

We met at Le Soleil, a quaint little Haitian restaurant in Midtown West. The owners were extremely pleasant, and the food was just fantastic! Jany and I ordered a few items to share which included Lambi nan sauce, griot, du riz kole a pwa, du riz blanc ak pwa Frans, banann peze, and salad. I was in Heaven!

I learned that Le Soleil just reopened. It has been in the neighborhood for many years before. The owners also catered for Jany’s daughter’s wedding. I will definitely be back from more lambi and griot with friends. I learned that it’s also BYOB!

Le Soleil: 858 10th Ave at 57th St, New York, NY

So I think for us non-creole speakers you should translate the food :) although it really doesn’t matter looking at it I know I’d eat it
