It’s the season for super dry hair and scalp, at least in my case. I have extremely dry skin in the late fall/winter months too. I keep that under control with vitamin E or jojoba oils. In the summer, I use coconut oil. I love to use oils on my skin and hair. On my face, I only swear by one product, and I’ve been using it for over 6 years, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. OK, let’s get back to hair talk, right now, I’m using Haitian castor oil on my scalp by the wonderful Kreyol Essence line. My hair is also loving their Pomad Kreyol. Loving! I’ve only been styling my hair with that as a sealer.
I’m trying to be a good girl and not put the ‘fro out because we all know what happens! It never goes back in. So I’ve been twisting my hair to go to work, parties, and whatever else comes my way. Yes, I dress up with my crooked twists, and I don’t care. This “style” is the most flat twists I’ve ever done in my hair. I’m still in learning mode, but I’m starting to like it. I rotate between two to three to four, and now eight two-strand flat twits. The style is super simple. The most time-consuming thing is moisturizing and parting my hair. I keep my hair in the styles for over two to three days, then I undo them to moisturize. After the whole moisturizing session, I decide if I want to add or take away a twist. It’s super versatile because adding just one twist is an entirely different style. People at work always notice, and they mention how my hair always changes.
- I spray my hair with water.
- Part my hair in however many different sections I desire.
- Add some Kinky-Curly Knot Today leave-in and detangle from tips to roots.
- Seal with Pomad Kreyol.
- When I’m done (because my scalp is super dry) I add some castor oil in the scalp, and rub.
- I finish by tying my hair with a scarf and go to bed.
I wake up, undo my scarf after I shower and do my makeup, and voila!
