Ready for Haitian Flag Day!

May 8, 2013 by findingpaola

With the help of my good friend, Alejandro, I was able to snap some good photos with Ania in Union Square two days ago. We went all out with our Haitian pride where we coordinated the Haitian flag colors. It was fun to shoot with Ania, the super model of the team. The tanks are now available on the website! http://www.ansanmnouseayiti.com Also our Haitian Flag Day giveaway is over, and the winner was announced on our Facebook page this past […]

NYC adventures: The Orchid Show

April 24, 2013 by findingpaola

The 11th annual exhibition celebrates this storied flower in all its amazing forms with thousands of brilliantly colored orchids. The largest exhibition of its kind in the United States also offers insight into caring for orchids, music from around the world, and a gorgeous setting for evening cocktails. The perfect date idea? Cocktails while looking at beautiful flowers at the New York Botanical Garden. The Orchid show happened every weekend between March 2-April 22. I made sure Tyler got a […]

Young Members Evening at the Met: Visite de Matisse

February 23, 2013 by findingpaola

On a cold rainy Friday night in January, I jumped in cab to go see an exhibit at the General Consulate of Haiti, then to rush north to the Upper East Side to meet some friends at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a Matisse exhibit. Rushing, jumping in cabs, and running to get in the subway are all things I’ve grown to become accustomed to. They’re now a part of my life where I don’t take a second […]

NYC Adventures: Kamayan night at Jeepney

February 18, 2013 by findingpaola

Just the night before (snow blizzard) Nemo visited New York City, Tyler and I braved the cold and headed downtown to Jeepney, a Filipino restaurant in the East Village for our quadruple date. I had never heard anything about Jeepney before, but my friend Jessica emailed us that it was Kamayan night, which meant to eat with our hands, and that excited me. Before I went there, I remember picturing what eating with hands meant so I imagined giant plates of […]

NYC adventures: Blizzard dance party

February 9, 2013 by findingpaola

The weather outside looked frightful. Straight up terrifying, but I was intrigued. I grabbed my camera, and went on a stroll through Central Park. I passed lovers making out under an arch because well… making out under an arch in Central Park in a snow storm is down right romantic. I passed kids attempting and failing at sledding.  Silly kids couldn’t wait for the next day, they were eager to slide down hills on their sleds and cardboard boxes. I […]

My boyfriend’s cooking: Pork belly sandwich

January 16, 2013 by findingpaola

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the juicy, finger-licking, delectable, pork belly sandwich my boyfriend made this past weekend. Most people I know, including me, always want to eliminate the prepping process and just want to get to cooking. Not according to my boyfriend. He gets all of his joy out of the preparation of each dish. So when he’s done cooking you can taste the quality of fresh ingredients that he cut, chopped, whipped, or baked himself. The kitchen is left with […]

Katie Time!

December 28, 2012 by findingpaola

Katie is the kind of friend that I always expect to have an eventful time with when we go out. The weirdest things happen at times, but it’s all fun and entertaining. Last week we celebrated the end of the world that didn’t end and her birthday just two days apart from each other. And let me tell you, both times had some amazing memories. It just always happen, I hang out with Katie, and there’s something to talk about […]

Holiday spirit in the air

December 19, 2012 by findingpaola

Enjoy this compilation of holiday themed pictures around my apartment and all over NYC. From Harlem to Lower East Side, Christmas tree vendors set up their tents. Giant trucks make daily tree deliveries. Every 10-blocks, giant green trees stand in groups guarded by a holiday themed tent. Men in flannels and thick sweaters wrap up trees. The refreshing smell of pine brings a smile to face. It’s Noel in NYC. It is indeed the most beautiful time of the year. […]
