A pretty fun rooftop terrace party

June 5, 2013 by findingpaola

One of my good friends from college moved to a great apartment in midtown with panoramic views of the city. She’s got a balcony or terrace on every side of the place that displays a dreamy New York City skyline. She threw a rooftop/terrace party recently, and it was some of the most fun I’ve had recently. I love laid-back parties, where everyone just relaxes and does whatever they want to do. There was plenty to drink. We had amazing […]

Sunday stroll through the High Line

April 29, 2013 by findingpaola

Spring has sprung, and the High Line is alive! I love strolling through the elevated park during the spring and summer seasons. Beautiful flowers and plants add color and life to what a historical freight rail line. Amazing street performers keep passers-by entertained. Great snack vendors make it convenient for visitors to have refreshments. Art-work is also displayed both on and near the high-line.  The beautiful and luxurious apartment complexes also add to the fun of the park. As I walk […]

Young Members Evening at the Met: Visite de Matisse

February 23, 2013 by findingpaola

On a cold rainy Friday night in January, I jumped in cab to go see an exhibit at the General Consulate of Haiti, then to rush north to the Upper East Side to meet some friends at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a Matisse exhibit. Rushing, jumping in cabs, and running to get in the subway are all things I’ve grown to become accustomed to. They’re now a part of my life where I don’t take a second […]

House: “Romanticizing” my studio apartment

February 5, 2013 by findingpaola

I’m known for having trinkets. I go out, and I buy something that makes me smile (if I can afford it) whether I will be able to use it or not. Most of my trinkets are for decorative value, but sometimes, I store them in a box too. I have a treasure box full of letters, drawings given to me by kids, rocks, and different things that bring back memories from a certain period of my time. My trinkets and […]

bright fall days

October 20, 2012 by findingpaola

I love me a good sunny fall day. A day warm enough I can wear layers, but still go outside without having to wearing leggings or pants. That day was not that day. Yes, it was extremely bright and sunny, but once I got on the roof, after two minutes, I was forced to run in my apartment to wear some pants. I also love wearing bright colors even in the fall. I read somewhere that real New Yorkers just […]

spiked smoothies, cocktail bowl, and birthday wishes

October 19, 2012 by findingpaola

On Sunday, the weather was just amazing. One of the most beautiful fall days fell on my birthday! I know you guys are already tired of birthday posts, and this is the last one. I promise! I woke up early to watch the sunrise. It was a glorious sight although the roof was extremely windy and cold. The whole time as the sun started to peak out in the horizon, I had a giant smile on my face. Just the […]

Haitian rum, cupcakes, and birthday wishes

October 17, 2012 by findingpaola

A night for pleasure seekers in Harlem. That’s what I thought of when  I really wanted to  celebrate on Saturday night to continue with my birthday festivities. Drinks, dancing, laughs with good friends in an intimate setting. Right after the apple-picking adventure, Jess and her boyfriend, along with Tyler, were the only ones who stayed for the night’s shenanigans. Together, we formed a little party committee to get ready for another group of friends for another amazing time. Jess and I went […]

Harlem streets and rooftops at sunset

October 9, 2012 by findingpaola

When the sun licks just lightly the top of the trees and buildings and hugs them with its warm, comforting hues, that’s when I like to go and photograph Harlem. Sometimes, I run on the streets, right around the circle on 110th by the Frederick Douglass statue, everything looks so calm and serene, particularly when skaters are not occupying the circle. Sometimes, I just sit on my couch and admires the soft yellow, pink, and orange tinted clouds right above Morningside […]
