Behind the scenes of Ansanm Nou Se Ayiti

3-ANSA2 02-DSC_1439 01-DSC_1429 05-DSC_1458 03-DSC_1441 04-DSC_1443 Bringing my vision to life certainly wouldn’t have been successful without my good Producer friend Joshua Bennett. After I wrote the poem, “Ansanm Nou Se Ayiti“, I tried to get an all Haitian team to produce it with me. I approached a few artistic Haitian people based in New York and was either turned down or ignored, but that didn’t stop me! I had the ladies by my side, and I wanted to move forward. I introduced the idea to Joshua in a coffee shop in the East Village, and he loved it. A month an a half later, here we were with a full team bringing my vision to LIFE!

I asked the amazing Shameika Bowman to be the makeup artist for the shoot because I am a big fan of hers, and we’ve worked together before. When she accepted to join the project, I was so thrilled. Peter Barr was my dummer (tanbourineur). He performs with Zing Experience, and knows how to “bat tanbou” drum the Haitian way. Abby came and helped me make the necklaces that represented our roles. Justin Ervin was the amazing director of photography, he managed to light the set so perfectly. Soukena Jean Jacques performed magnificently, she is such a beauty! Ania couldn’t make the shoot because she had a big one scheduled by an agency on the same day, but her positive energy stayed with us the whole time! Daniel Olshansky is now working on editing the video, and I just can’t wait to share the final product with you all.

I’M SO EXCITED! My team was so amazing (click on everyone’s names to read more about them), and I really couldn’t have picked a better one. And yes, the video will be in Kreyol because that’s just how we do it!

Don’t forget to enter my GIVEAWAY!Let’s support Haitian artists everywhere.

I will also send special invites to friends around NYC for the big screening, so make yourselves known now if you’re interested in attending.  Now that the creative project is done. I’m working on the movement. Send me an email if you want to be part of it!

Love you all my faithful readers and supporters. I guarantee you this is just the beginning. ;)
