NYFW: Arise Show SS2013

After a challenging Hip Hop dance class, Abby of 4ACES invited me to attend the Arise: African Icons show at Lincoln Center for New York Fashion Week. The show featured the leading African designers in the world including, Oswald Boateng, Maki Oh, Gavin Rajah, Tiffany Amber, and Tsemaye Binitie.

This was my second time at NYFW, and this experience was beyond words! Besides the amazing fashion presented by these legendary designers, I was blown away by the many individuals I encountered there. Accompanied by Aissata, we were just not ready for the flood of photographers right outside of Lincoln Center. I was able to meet network with many inspiring fashion professionals and bloggers. It also doesn’t hurt that Aissata is one big social butterfly!

I was asked a lot where I got my dress from, and it was really funny because it’s not a designer piece. I got it at a store on 125th Street in Harlem. It might have been Payhalf or a store similar to it. We were also briefly interviewed, and I was just happy that Aissata was able to speak her mind about something she is so passionate about. We had a terrific time.

Thanks, I tried to capture as much as possible without going overboard. And I wonder if they made the hat, definitely unique.
