Ansanm Nou Se Ayiti

Ansamn Nou Se Ayiti

Ansanm Nou Se Ayiti (Together we are Haiti) is a poem written by me and inspired by two beautiful Haitian women I met through different social events in New York City. They were contacted shortly after I wrote the piece to see if they would collaborate with me and act it out in video format. After they accepted, I proceeded to organize it, and I’m happy to say that we will be filming this Sunday.

Asanm Nou Se Ayiti is meant to be both emotional and refreshing. It is a tribute to my beautiful country, Ayiti (Haiti). It is an exhibition of beauty, a way to present the different types of beauties Haiti has to offer. A promotion of unity- The Haitian motto is “L’union fait la force.” It’s something we say often, but rarely practice. And finally, it gives us a splash of a little Haitian history.

The piece is short, but powerful. It’s meant to be easily read by a five-year old. It is all in Kreyol (Creole). And there will be English subtitles for some of my non-Haitian friends who want to join the movement.

This is isn’t just an artistic piece, it is a movement. Young professional Haitians living abroad and Haiti, let’s come together because “Ansanm Nou Se Ayiti”.

You can only imagine how much sleep I’ve lost over this project, but I’m extremely excited! Trying to get through my full-time day job and continuous blogging, to trying to create this piece has been exhausting, but exhilarating. I’m just so happy to have met these two ladies, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them. Please come back soon. I will have a post dedicated to everyone involved in the project, starting with the beautiful ladies, you all barely know anything about.
