I went to Chicago for the very first time 3 weekends ago and had a fantastic time. Tyler and I attended a wedding, and since he was in the wedding party, I had time to explore the city on my own a little. People were very friendly. We stayed at a cute little boutique hotel downtown, near Magnificent Mile. I’m assuming the locals stayed very far away because there were TONS of tourists (like me). I wasn’t turned around because the streets were easy to navigate, and the city is quite lovely. It’s nowhere near as fast faced as NYC (no other city is).
I feel like living in NYC makes me more aware of things when I go to different cities. For example, when I find something interesting and want to photograph it, I don’t just stop in the middle of the sidewalk, interrupting traffic to get it done. I step aside and make sure I’m not bothering anyone before I take the photo. One of my ultimate pet-peeves walking the streets of New York is when someone in front of me decides to just stops abruptly without looking behind just to take a darn photo?! It’s hard for people like me who are always in a rush. Good thing I still have good reflex because one of these days, I’ll definitely run into someone and accidentally break a camera or something. Well half accident… This post is not intended to be a rant at all, so I’ll leave it at that. I hope you enjoy the photos I was able to capture.
