A weekend by the lake in New Hampshire

A little weekend getaway in the woods is just what every New Yorker everyone needs. My boyfriend and I drove up to New London, NH recently for a family weekend and to celebrate a few wonderful events and accomplishments. We stayed at a country inn by Pleasant Lake, and it was just what I needed. The lake was within sight of our room, and just a short walk from the inn guaranteed a lakeside oasis.

We went canoeing, and the whole time I was terrified because my boyfriend and his brother kept joking about how they wanted to flip the boat! Mom, are you reading this? I know you are because you always do.And of course there was a swim off in the freezing lake because brothers will be brothers, and we all know how competitive they get. The girls and the other adults just watched them as they screamed about how cold the water was.

It seems like all of the flowers were bloomed to their full potential. The colors all decided to come out and celebrate and have a big dance party just for us. The chef at the inn was one of the most talented chefs I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. He owned the inn with his wife, and he was just very pleasant to talk to.

I now want to do a weekend getaway like this as often as I can because although it’s a few hours away by car, it really feels like I’m a world away. Everything is just so different, quiet, and pure. I can start to see why my boyfriend loves Vermont so much, and why he always dreams about moving in a cabin in the woods. These things are fine for me too, but just to visit! Give me the city and all its glory! Even if it’s nasty and smelly in the summer.

I hope you enjoyed the photos. Let me know where you like to go when you just want a little getaway. And don’t forget to enter my GIVEAWAY!

I have access to a private residential large pool less than 5 minutes from my house. I will teach you how to swim. It is a beautiful spot, not quite as awesome as NH judging by your photos…

You always have great photos, but this set is my favorite. So many brilliant colors, the theme of summer, and the lake. Perfection…

Wow, somehow your pictures can even make a frigid lake out in the woods look beautiful. I almost miss the east coast.
