Meet my mother. She’s like the sister I’ve never had. I love when she visits me in my New York. I get to take her to all of my favorite places or places I read great things about. After brunch in the West Village and some shopping one Saturday, we decided to go relax by the fountain in Bryant Park.
We sat a very close proximity to the fountain in the shade. Occasionally we would feel the mist coming from the splashing of water in the giant pool. We watched children, mostly toddlers playing the water, almost causing their parents a heart attack every time it looks like they were about to fall in. Their clothing would get extremely wet. It looks like the parents knew exactly what would happen since they had extra clothing in their shoulder bags to change the babies into after they were done playing with the water. We watched happy families walk slowly around the park, breathing New York City.
My mom finally got to see why I love the park so much. She told me if she lived in New York, she would probably come and sit there often. It’s not too big or intimidating like Central Park if you don’t really know New York. It’s not too overwhelming where you have to fight to find a seat like the Highline. There’s a little corner for everybody, and it’s just so beautiful.
