Paola… Lost in New York City

Kenbe Prestige Ou

Haitian lager, Prestige can now be purchased in my local supermarket in Harlem! My boyfriend made my day when he surprised me with a six-pack this past Saturday. I’m going to make sure that they carry this beer as long as I possibly can. I already have a tendency of bringing friends “Rhum Barbancourt” as party gifts, now when I’m on a rush, they’re getting a six-pack of Prestige.

Did you know Prestige won the Gold Award in the world Beer Cup in San Diego? Read the full article here.

Kenbe Prestige ou means: Hold on to your Prestige. Drinking this beer on my roof in NYC brought back so many memories. I closed my eyes picturing the beautiful beach and surrounding mountains. Smelling the delicious aroma of mayi boukannen and lanbi. A boy is cracking open a kokoye, while I listen to the waves dancing in front of me. Nothing is better than my beautiful country.

  1. Isn’t it funny how something as simple as a bottle of beer can bring back a flood of memories? I love sampling local beers where ever I go, and when I find them again in the States, I am so giddy! I think my favorite is Cusqueña, from Cusco, Peru (but that might be based more on memories than the quality of the beer itself).

Your pictures are just stunning! Haiti seems magical. I actually just yelled out to my Colombian boyfriend, “Look! They eat patacones and Quibbe in Haiti too!!” I absolutely LOVE those little fried balls of goodness. :-)

    • That’s amazing! I think we pretty much all eat the same thing in the carribean and latin america, haha. Haiti is magical, and I really want to go back. It’s funny when I went back last time, I just thought I was in a dream, although it was my reality the first 13 years of my life. And these fried stuff would be the death of me if I still lived in Haiti. Kibi, passion fruit juice, quenepa, all of these are some of my favorite things. :)

    • Ah! That’s so awesome! I’m glad I was able to influence at lease SOMEONE to purchase some Prestige. Make sure he drinks it real cold. I have two waiting for me at home, I’m excited!

  2. Wow, amazing. Finally! I would like you to tell me where exactly can I purchase it in Harlem. I will be in Harlem in 3 weeks from today so please help a sister out. Mwen ta renmin surprise mari Mwen although I just have birth I’m breast feeding and cannot drink yet but I would live to store a few packs in my house for hubby & guess.
