After a good meal at Yatenga with my co-worker, I decided to stop by 67 Orange to finish the night with a good cocktail. I’ve always been a big fan of the speak-easy, cocktail bar located right on FDB at 113th Street. I used to go there once a week when I first moved to the neighborhood to get my “Sexy Nachos” fix. I’m not kidding, that was one of the menu items, I didn’t make up the name. Not only were the nachos sexy with four different types of cheeses, they were delicious! Most of the cocktails I’ve tried were terrific. I’m a rum person, so I think I tried everything on the rum menu. My favorites are Ben Down, Hemingway Daiquiri, and the Brazilian Jig. I also love Emancipation (Vodka), Double Relaxation (Vodka), and No Mail (Gin). The cocktails are made with the finest ingredients, featuring seasonal fruits and top-shelf spirits and liqueurs.
I’ve been there only twice this spring/summer partly because my favorite item from the food menu was removed without my permission, and also because I wanted to explore more of the neighborhood’s cocktail- sippin’ options. I always come back to 67 Orange because it is the only speak-easy type bar in the neighborhood. It’s small and cozy with its walls displaying the works of a local artist. I enjoy chatting with the Cape Verdean bartender who I like to give a hard time every time I go if I couldn’t get my sexy nachos. Karl Franz, the owner, is a very amiable person who likes to make sure that everyone is having a good time.
My love for 67 Orange Street rekindled when I noticed they had a cocktail on their menu featuring my favorite rum, Rhum Barbancourt of Haiti. The drink is called The Hedonist or “Pleasure seeker”, and trust me when I say this… it brought instant gratification on the very first sip.
Overall, I think the bar is a nice, intimate venue. I’ve bought many of my co-workers and friends out-of-town there if I wanted to carry a nice conversation while drinking delicious cocktails in Harlem. It’s also perfect for a date! The Hedonist will definitely bring me back there more often. I’m looking forward to trying the lobster mac n cheese, and I will be back to tell you about it.

Happy to hear you love the cocktails I created!!!
