Paola… Lost in New York City

Quality time

I knew Mother’s Day was going to be epic from the way the day started. I overslept so I knew I was already running late. I got dressed rapidly, barely thinking about what I was going to wear. I grabbed a burgundy sheer dress I purchased for the fall last year from my closet and threw it on. I really love clothes I can just wear throughout many seasons. I decided to pair it with  light colored belt and shoes since the dress is already pretty dark for spring.

After I got my mom an amazing bouquet of flowers from my local florist, Franz James, I jumped on the C train to make my way to Dirty Jersey. I had some great entertainment on the train. A guy I’ve seen around many times in a Michael Jackson inspired outfit and hair danced to Billy Jean for us. As often as I’ve seen him around, I’ve never seen him perform, and I think he was fantastic.

By the time I got home, my mom was cooking up a feast! It was Mother’s Day, I volunteered to take her out, but she refused. No complaints from my part whatsoever, she was cooking some of my favorites-  salade pomme de terre, du riz ak djon djon, griyo, tasso, pikliz, bannann peze, pwason, mon Dieu! I was in heaven! My dad was dancing to some African singer he’s been raving about all by himself by the computer in his own little world. I hung out with My brother and his girlfriend for a bit. After a while, we went to the park for some fresh air. It always feels good to run around and feel the grass between your toes on a beautiful day. I really couldn’t have asked for a better day with my family!
