Happy feet!

March 31, 2012 by findingpaola

I was waiting at the 42nd street station waiting for the C train when this man approached me. This is what our conversation was like for the first two minutes. Man: “Nice shoes!” Me: “Thank you.” *Smile* Man: “Are you a dancer?” Me: “No.” *Smile* Man: “Are you an artist? You look like an artist.” Me: “No.” Man: “Where do you live? Manhattan?” Me: “Yes.” *Smile* Man: “Are you uptown? Upper West Side?” Me: “Yes.” *Smile* (Technically I live in […]

Work, Play, Work, Play!

March 29, 2012 by findingpaola

To celebrate the nice weather last week, my friends and I left the dungeon (that’s what we call the office) and went for some sunshine lunch. We ran up Ninth Avenue and looked for restaurants with outdoor seating. We picked Don Giovanni, a casual Italian restaurant, known for their pizza and lasagna. The food was decent, nothing to brag about. While it’s affordable, I prefer Capizzi, another small Italian pizza place in Hell’s Kitchen. The only advantage Don Giovanni has […]

Ocho

March 27, 2012 by findingpaola

I will return to San Antonio only if I can go back to Ocho, a restaurant Tyler found on Yelp during a our long weekend/friend’s wedding getaway. Tyler has this thing where he refuses to eat at just a random restaurant, no matter how crowded or successful it seems. He figures most crowded places near a water front or town center will only serve overpriced, below-average food with poor service, which is probably accurate the majority of the time. So, […]

Le printemps, mon printemps

March 24, 2012 by findingpaola

Spring is the season when snow melts (not that we had any in NYC this year), and animals come back from hibernation. You can hear the birds chirp, and watch the trees come back to life. It’s the season when people smile more, care more, and play more. It’s the season for colors, lovers, and flowers. I was in San Antonio for a wedding last week, and while my boyfriend was having a golf day with the groomsmen, I decided to […]

Before March is over

March 22, 2012 by findingpaola

I heard March was the month to celebrate women. And before it’s over, I want to celebrate a woman who has been a true hero to me. I don’t mention it or speak about her enough, but I want to record that I am grateful for all the things she has done for me. I’ve tried to contact her recently to thank her again to find out she was just retired. That amazing woman goes by the name of Cynthia […]

Color me coral

March 21, 2012 by findingpaola

Coral is one of my favorite spring colors. I think it compliment brown skin really well. It was Friday night in San Antonio, a full day before the wedding. After a delicious meal and a night of harmonious toasts to the bride and groom, we sat outside. Sipping on cocktails, talking, laughing. Many conversations all going at once, forming a song of happiness. The streets were busy, it felt like there was a party in every corner. The bar next […]

Mr. and Mrs. Free

March 19, 2012 by findingpaola

Click here if you want full makeup and outfit details. Last Saturday was St. Patrick’s Day, but that wasn’t the only thing we were celebrating! We went to Tyler’s college friends’ wedding in San Antonio Texas. It was a beautiful ceremony and the reception was breathtaking. Everything and everyone were just beyond beautiful. The San Antonio Country Club couldn’t have been a more suitable venue, and the weather was just right. The food was amazing, the band was just incredible. […]

Sunday Funday

March 16, 2012 by findingpaola

For a while I didn’t like Sundays. It was one of those days of the week that really bored me. I didn’t understand the big deal about it. In Haiti and many parts of the world, it is considered the day of the Lord and a day of rest. Haitian families typically cooked fancy meals for their families to celebrate. I loved my “du riz ak sos pwa blan, salade russe, macaroni au gratin, canard ou pintade” on that day. […]
