La plage et mes lunettes coeur!

January 30, 2012 by findingpaola

Last year one of the main things I wanted to own apart from my awesome bendable hula hoop was a pair of heart shaped sunglasses. It takes a lot to make me happy, right? I went through a phase where I browsed everywhere on the internet to find the best pair. I ended up with three, the third one came by accident. Now that I have them, I wear them all the time. I love wearing them mostly in the […]

A (delightful) weekend in Florida

January 28, 2012 by findingpaola

After an exhausting and downright comical flight on Spirit Air, we surprisingly made it safe and sound to Florida. Tyler and I were warmly greeted at the airport (welcome sign and all!) by our college friend Andrew and amazingly hyper girlfriend, Nicole. We were all able to quickly catch up in the car; the boys sat in the front while the ladies occupied the back. The very first task was to get brunch. And that’s what we got! Bloody Marys […]

Paola and Sara Take NYC (Top of the Standard)

January 25, 2012 by findingpaola

On the 18th floor at the Standard Hotel, past the attractive hostesses, behind a giant door guarded by a doorman, awaits heaven. I’ve been trying to ignore Top of the Standard or (should I say) Boom Boom Room ever since I heard about it. Every mention was followed by an eye-roll from me. I’ve been deceived by so many overhyped Meat Packing District venues that I didn’t see the point in ever going there. The Highline is the only thing that keeps me going […]

A run in Central Park

January 23, 2012 by findingpaola

Kyle and I went running two Sundays ago. It was the first time I went running outside in the winter. I always thought people were crazy whenever I saw them jogging by in 30 degree weather. The run happened after a big drinking night. I wanted to do something healthy, and Kyle agreed to join. It was a very windy day, but the air was crisp. It was also very sunny, which warmed us up as we kept running. Everything […]

Paola and Sara Take NYC (Ippudo)

January 17, 2012 by findingpaola

When I think of Ippudo, two words come to mind: PORK BUNS! Last Thursday, after ignoring Sara all day when she repeatedly asked me where we would go on our weekly adventure, I dragged her to one of my all time favorite restaurants in New York City. I bragged about the pork buns, and the warm delicious home-made noodles we would be having in dreamy voice as she stared at me with disinterest. Little did she know she was in […]

Le Chapeau Rouge

January 16, 2012 by findingpaola

Red is my favorite color, and I was told once that I have a head for hats. Not sure exactly what that means, but I don’t mind it since I adore hats. I love hats of all shapes, styles, and colors! Sunday was a fairly easy, relaxing day. After my jog in Central Park and laundry, I just kicked back a bit. I typically have Ella Fitzgerald or old French songs playing in my apartment, so one of Edith Piaf’s songs […]

my studio apartment now, before, then

January 14, 2012 by findingpaola

When I first came to New York, I was looking for a place to crash, now I have a place to live. I realize there’s much more to being a New Yorker than hopping from place to place then coming home at an unreasonable time to rest for just a few hours and to start all over again the next day. I like to entertain even with my small place, so I like it to be both open and cozy. […]

Avocado Hair/Face Mask

January 13, 2012 by findingpaola

WATCH! I just love avocados! As one of my all time favorite fruits, I buy them whenever I have the chance. Last weekend I decided to use one for something I’ve never done before. I’m not sure why, but sometimes I go through these phases, and I do random things on a whim. Cutting up an avocado and putting it on my hair and skin was definitely one of those things. I already knew the benefits of the avocado, and […]
