Paola… Lost in New York City

Just before London, exploring the Hudson Valley

I’m turning 25 on October 14th. I know, I still can’t believe I’m already aged a quarter of a century. This year, I’ve been all about trying things I’ve never done, living on an edge (well… not really), and just doing what I really enjoy. I also wanted to remember this year as something really special, so I came up with several innovative ways to welcome my new year on this wonderful planet. I will be in London during the week of my birthday and in Paris the night of. Yep, a couple of months ago I spontaneously purchased a plane ticket to London without even giving it a thought, then told my boyfriend about it later during lunch with his dad. Luckily, he wasn’t furious with me, and he will be able to join me on this trip.  Lastly, because I would not be in New York City to celebrate with my friends, I came up with some exciting activities.

The first day was to be spent in upstate New York where we would go apple-picking, corn-mazing, walking the Walkway over the Hudson, and having dinner at my boss’s. Day two, which is today will be spent walking around the whole island of Manhattan. That’s right, about 12+/- hours of walking. My friends of course were not to excited about this one, but it’s something I would do alone (you will hear and see how it all went.) Hopefully, I will be able to update while I’m in London, since I’m leaving this upcoming Monday.

The drive upstate took about two and a half hours because we decided to take scenic routes. We ended up at West Point for a gorgeous view and continued north to DuBois Farm. It was the most wonderful day I could ever ask for. It was more a summer weather than fall really. My friends were as excited as I was, and I really couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day. Everyone and everything was just beautiful. I will definitely remember it as one of my favorite days. A twelve-hour adventure with great company.

These pictures are all day one of my birthday adventures (all photos I’m not physically in were taken by yours truly):

Great post. But what is even greater than that. Is that we will both be celebrating our 25th birthday on the same day! Woot! …”geesh, she has a fun and what seems to be a fantastic life at 24…I should get things together… insert sad face”
