I did a photo shoot today for this awesome little designer, Cheay Rochelle. She is young, fresh, and amazing. Shameika Bowman did my make up, so I decided to shoot this quick video to show you! Well, show you my makeup and my hair. The behind-the-scene pictures will come soon. Stay tuned! In the meantime, check out Cheay Rochelle’s website: http://www.cheayrochelle.com/ Shameika Bowman can be booked here: http://yourfacemycanvas.net/

Du cafe

July 29, 2011 by findingpaola

My mother told me a really cute story when I was younger. Two weeks ago when she came to visit my new apartment with my dad, she repeated the same story. I love the way she tells stories, especially about her youth or when I was just a baby. She would smile the whole time, and she would tell it as if she were someone looking in from the outside. The story was about how I got my birthmarks. I […]

Farofa

July 28, 2011 by findingpaola

It all started with pouring  Gin (well-shaken) into chilled glasses kissed by vermouth. Eric wanted a twist of lemon and I went with three olives. I was perfecting my perfect martini. We went on the roof to watch the sunset while waiting for Auguste. It was Sunday, and that meant dancing to Samba and other hip Brazilian tunes. We were going to Farofa to shake everything our mommas gave us and more. Farofa is a Brazilian matinee party that started […]

Mistique Opening Night

Mistique Opening Night

July 25, 2011 by findingpaola

“Taxi!” We made it outside right after consuming at least 2/3 of a bottle of wine each. It was the hottest day in New York City, and we were dressed for that occasion. We were going to a lounge opening event. We were on a high. A high off life. Doormen screamed from the sidewalk, directing people to line up. Promoters, lengthy girls, and hipsters stood eagerly, not wanting to wait any longer than 15 seconds. Everything was a blur […]

masquerade picnic in central park

July 22, 2011 by findingpaola

It was Saturday. It was hot. We were ready for one terrific picnic. We grabbed hummus, bread, wine, cherries, and rotisserie chicken. We purchased an enormous chocolate/chocolate chip cookie from Levain. We were ready to go. It was past 7, and the sun was already preparing to set. We entered Central Park from the northwest side on 110th street. We went down some stairs, then up some. We passed kissing teenagers, crowds of families, mixed groups of twenty-somethings. We settled […]

Stranger’s Gate Greenmarket

July 19, 2011 by findingpaola

From the market’s website: Located on the West side of Central Park at 106th Street, this market has an excellent selection of locally-grown products from orchard fruit harvested at its peak of ripeness, vegetables, and other seasonal, regionally grown produce, from baked goods, potted plants, juices, jams and syrup. Pick up provisions for a picnic in the park or stock your larder with these locally grown staples. My old roommate from college came to visit last weekend. We never left […]

Restaurant Week 2011

July 18, 2011 by findingpaola

New York Restaurant Week is celebrating its 20th year of dining out as we speak. This year’s exact dates are from July 11 to July 24, featuring over 300 participating restaurants. The event has attracted both locals and visitors from all over the world. . After our awesome Ice Cream Social, my coworkers and I got together to take advantage of one of my favorite New York City events, Restaurant week. With so many amazing restaurants listed on this year’s list, it would have […]
